The mission of the City of Pacifica's Engineering Division is to manage the planning, design and construction of public infrastructure projects; to provide transportation planning and traffic engineering services to the public, other departments and other agencies; to provide technical support to the planning department and building division on engineering issues related to private development projects; to provide emergency management technical services during natural disasters; to maintain and improve the city's mapping system and provide survey information for public and private projects; and to provide maintenance and repair of the city’s infrastructure in an efficient and cost-effective manner while providing a high level of customer service and a safe work environment for city employees.


The following service modifications have been implemented to comply with the latest San Mateo County Health Officer’s Order.


Encroachment Permits, Inspections, Plan Checks, and Capital Projects

  • Encroachment permits and other Engineering services can be rendered either online (Encroachment Permits), via email to engineering@ci.pacifica.ca.us, or via phone during regular business hours.
  • To contact a staff member, call (650) 738-3767 or send an email to engineering@ci.pacifica.ca.us and someone will respond as soon as possible.
  • Encroachment Permit Inspections: Contact Engineering Division staff at the phone number or email address provided above and you will be contacted with information on how to proceed.
  • Capital Projects:  Staff is working remotely and can assist you with the City’s Capital Projects. Please contact the project engineer via email or leave a message at (650) 738-3767.
